I am back from London. I am not there any more. Altogether was very disappointing. We Croats think , that life here is hard. Life there is 10 times harder! I was pretty much in dreams. I believed that only rich and wealthy Britts are walking around, courteous, well mannered gentlemen. Oh, how I was wrong!

My first bad touch with London was already at immigration department, when immigration officer ( harsh Indian woman with big turban on the Head, of rough appearance and cold eyes - That was the first time in life, I saw something like her in my life!) barely hit stamp for Visa because by their opinions I wanted to stay too long - month and a half , without job and secure accomodation ( why is my accomodation, their concern). That was my biggest mistake - Top 1. what I came there thinking, I will find acommodation in a few days.

I was listening internet news, where it was clearly said, that up to 6 months Croatia don`t need Visa for United Kingdom, from year of 2007. So, I was thinking, that it cannot be some problem to come there only for a month and a half then, isn` it?

When they started asking me - what shall I do there for a month and a half, who are my friends, where shall I live, how much money I have got - very quickly I realized „what is the time". In that honorable country ( yeah right), where there is still queen authority you cannot come just like that. You must do all through Internet or give them thousand evidences for your short coming for a month and a half. That is some short time in compare to all life, so I dont know, why that would be categorized like „Long time" and I must show so many evidence. Maybe because Croatia is not on their list of favourite countries, and list of countries United Kingdom doesn`t like are pretty long, as I know.

Immigration officer did not think like me. She asked me all, and that ended with my showing to her money from my wallet. All was ugly and humiliated. After that, she called her colleague, for further interrogation, cause obviously was not satisfied. Other woman was less cruel, so, when I tried to convince her that I came only to improve my accent, which is important for my job cause „ There is few jobs in Croatia" , she finally softened.

YOU MUST DEFINITELY enroll some school of English, through Internet, find accomodation throught internet ( even there are many cheaters, who took your money, and dont give accomodation) and find friends over Internet, or you will be DEAD MEAT, like I was. It is not important that you are single Croatian girl who live in Europe, the same as United Kingdom.

For them we all are potential terorists - from single Croatian 30 year old girl, man of 50 who came from Phillipines, to woman who is selling on the market and came to enjoy some time in London at the end of life. You must show them all evidence, you are not potential terorist ( like they knew that, if I enroll one of their bad Colleges) or you will be deported, like almost was me.

When I was crazy of waiting, and came to idea to flirt little bit with male immigration officers, ( maybe they will show more understanding , cause I am a woman and will fall sooner, on my „female, slavic charm" then female officers and maybe I can convince them better that I am not terorist, that my goals are pretty innocent, one male officer looked me in so cold, confused way that it took about 1 minute to realize, that they have never heard for stuff like that and that behind uniform, there is no Men. ( During visit in London, I was more and more convinced in that.)

Sooner would one pidgin fall on me, than British male officer. Robots. You are stuff, for them, refugee stuff. They dont look you in any human way. There is LAW EVERYTHING. They understand only their citizens, and all other people are for them - somebody worthless.

They are extremely paranoic and see possible threats in all, what they can. You must give them evidence of all, or your coming will be there like start of hell. ( What was my visit to London).

It is very bad idea to come there for longer time of a week, and search there for acommodation, if you dont have friends, or relatives who will help you. Except it will be very hard for you, you will have lots of problems. From immigration officers to others. In some way, it is very funny, that on the Streets wander many criminals and dangerous people and one 30 year old Croatian woman is threat in the way they almost deport me, when I just came, only because I did not know to explain them, what shall I do there in the simple way, because I had many ideas and come there to see what I can fulfill. But, pretty soon my ideas was collapsed, one by one.
