Stress causes weight gain
01-27-09

Being nervous can produce weight gain. People sometimes, when are stressed out they are not very careful in what should be eating. Also, when somebody is stressed he feels as he is tired and have a lack of energy. Because of that, he eats more to supply himself with energy. Or to fulfill emotional needs of "empty stomach". He feels sometimes emptiness , so he wants to fill himself with food in order to lose that feeling. After plenty food he feels comfort and sense of fulfillment. That is one of main reason to gaining weight for stress.

Last researches shows that hormone cortisol which is secreted by your body during stress also causes weight gain. Stress causes increasing of level of Cortisol in your body. Yet, there are no certain researches about that hormone, that its rising is enough to cause weight gain. By itself.

Nevertheless cortisol can contribute to abdominal fat. Receptors are located in your abdomen. Researchers found that women with a high waist- hip ratio , overweight and slim, secreted more cortisol under stress. It can also causes slowing of metabolism. So sometimes you can consume as mush food as usual and yet gaining fat.

What to do? You need to get regular exercise , relaxation exercises, get enough sleep, because if you are sleeping less, you will be eating more.
