This great artists did not receive any praise during his life. He sold only 1 painting and a hundred years later his painting sold for over 70 millions of dollars. It is tragic.

Vincent Van Gogh was born in Groot-Zundert, Holland. His main expression was color. He was son of a pastor. He carried out his childhood in religious and cultured atmosphere and it probably left strain on young Vincent. He was very emotional and shy.

He had 2 unhappy romances with barren persons. He was working unsuccessfully as a clerk in a bookstore, an art salesman, and a preacher in the Borinage. In the Borinage he got fired.

In Belgium he stayed to study art. The works of his early Dutch period are somber-toned, sharply lit, genre paintings of which the most famous is "The Potato Eaters" (1885).

Then Van Gogh went to Antwerp and found great inspiration in work of Rubens.

In 1886 Vincent arrived to Paris. There he got acquainted with Pissarro, Monet and Gauguin. His brother Theo who was manager of Goupil's gallery took care of him. Because of his nervous temperament , night long discussions and painting during all day, his health started to collapse.

Van Gogh went to Arles with his friend artist Gauguin, to find some good School of Art , but it was very wrong decision. Gauguin and Vincent did not belie together and there was whole lot of fights and conflicts. In strike of epilepsy Vincent attacked Gauguin with razor, he was stopped by Gauguin, but cut himself a piece of ear off. His mental health started to aggravate so after that, Theo sent him to the asylum in Saint-Remy for treatment.

In May of 1890, he seemed much better and went to live in Auvers-sur-Oise with Dr. Gachet. He continued to paint new paintings, but he was aware that selling paintings is not going well, and that he cannot take care of himself and earn money of painting. So his mental health was worse and worse. His brother Theo succeed to sell only one of his paintings. Only he believed in him, but it was not enough. Van Gogh was not happy because he depends of goodness of his brother.

After 2 months of arriving in Auvers- sur-Oise he went to fields bringing gun with him and he shot himself. After a while he died. He did not want to be on a burden of anybody and the World did not appreciate his Art and paintings he loved most.

Unfortunately, a hundred years later his painting has sold for 71 millions dollars and that is the most bizarre thing of all. When he was alive he could not leave of his Art at all and today he would be a millionaire. That is tragic and bizarre paradox.

Unfortunately Van Gogh is not the only Artist that was not appreciated during life at all and only after death the World has discovered the great beauty in his Art.
